“Morristown. I usually stay downtown and did not know this hotel existed except that it was a special rate the night I stayed. What a delightful surprise! The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and you have access to fresh coffee in the lobby at any hour. In the morning is a FANTASTIC and free continental breakfast buffet that was simply outstanding! The room was huge and very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and modern and had a fan to blow out the shower steam and provide noise cover for bathroom noises. (It is such a rare thing to find in hotels, that I have to comment when I do find it!) The linens are high quality as are the supplied toiletries. The lobby is broken up into separate areas, and there are plenty of nice cozy spots if you are a sit in the lobby kind of person. There are also lots of nice outdoor spots if you want fresh air but some privacy. The indoor pool was nice and was accessible with your room key. I looked at the pool and surrounding areas, and it was very clean and apparently updated. Overall, this was a fantastic stay and I highly recommend the Madison!”

“28 years ago we were married and had our reception at this wonderful boutique hotel . Our NYC daughter and her fiancé were looking for the perfect place for their wedding reception. They chose the beautiful Madison! The train stops right behind the hotel and it is a short pretty, grassy stroll to the hotel. The rooms for guests are spacious, clean and cozy with duvet linens and turndown service. The breakfast, complimentary, is bowls of fresh seasonal fruits and eggs and juices and bagels and pastries ...and served elegantly in the lobby. All of the hotel staff is courteous and helpful and caters to every whim. This is a family owned, luxury boutique, classy hotel! Our daughters wedding reception was held in the conservatory which is enclosed glass, gorgeous chandeliers and flowering plants and sparkled with the votives and fresh flowers on the tables. Food was amazing and Charles Dietz, Joseph Zimmerman, Sara Maurer ...all were consummate professionals and made everything easy, elegant, delicious and affordable! All of the referrals were top notch! We live in Michigan and fiancée family in Minnesota and planning was a breeze. All of our guests were dazzled and stayed at the hotel! I cannot speak more highly of this hotel and all of their restaurants on premise. The last evening the groom’s parents and my husband and I had a quiet delicious dinner in the Red Dog Saloon. We all love the Madison hotel and hope it never changes!”

“I have stayed here a number of times. I grew up in Madison and now live in CA. I always stay here when I go to pick up my son at college in PA. It gives me a chance to drive through the areas I remember and visit.
The hotel staff is extremely polite and helpful. The rooms are decorated very nice and the beds are so comfortable. They also have a wonderful continental breakfast. I also appreciate the opportunity to visit in NYC and having the train station very close by. The hotel location is also very close to the highways.
I always look forward to the opportunity to come back and visit.”

“What a wonderful surprise to find this excellent hotel tucked away in Morristown, NJ. The exquisite foyer to the beautiful atrium was a feast for the eyes. Combine this with the first class restaurants and well appointed rooms and you cannot go wrong staying here even for one night. The complimentary breakfast was not your ordinary continental and was just an added bonus to an enjoyable stay.”

“This hotel is wonderful!! We plan to stay there on each upcoming trip to NYC. The commuter train station is adjacent to the hotel and the relaxing atmosphere of this lovely building is a pleasure at the end of a busy day in Manhattan. We are so happy to have found the Madison Hotel.”

“We have family in the Madison, NJ area and this is where we stay when we go up to visit. It is nice, affordable, with historic character that makes it a nice change from the usual chain hotels. We stayed here for the third time in April 2013. The bed was very comfortable. The bar is fun with live music and the steak house is great. The complimentary breakfast is very good, although sometimes I wish there were more places to sit. There is a pool but we have never had a chance to use it.”

“We stayed there for a friend's wedding. The hotel overall is very nice, with a great breakfast (and around the clock coffee is fantastic).
What sets it further apart is customer service. With 5 minutes to get to the ceremony, I discovered I'd packed shoes that were missing laces. When I checked with the front desk to see if they sold them (they of course didn't) Chris, who was working the desk at the time, took off his own laces and handed them to me. Completely above and beyond and consistent (although to a higher degree) to the friendly, professional service received at the bar, restaurant, and front desk during a whole stay.”

“The hotel was beautiful. The grounds and gardens were amazing. Lots of places to sit and enjoy inside and outside. There is an indoor pool and gym and many meeting rooms. Lovely sunk in area with a fireplace. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was a big spread with tons of choices, hard boiled eggs, cereal, bagels, danish, energy bars, jellies, cream cheese, mixed fruit, fresh blueberries, OJ, Apple juice and on and on. Above a 5 star!”

“What a wonderful surprise I had when entering the Madison Hotel, it was like being in another era of history and to top it all off the service was outstanding. Surrounded with all the beauty of the past it still had all the amenities of today and the most comfortable beds around. Will certainly go back to this little gem of luxury. Great food and drinks in the restaurants.”

“The staff was great, very helpful (even late at night)...and the fireplace sitting area was fab! Breakfast in the morning was not your average continental breakfast...you won't be disappointed.
While traveling for business can be a hassle...felt very comfortable in the Madison and loved the common area and the food in the restaurants was very good as well. Thanks I'll come back!”

“The mattresses were very comfortable and offered great support. The towels were absorbent and fluffy and took off more water than they left behind. The New Jersey Transit was right across the parking lot which made it extremely easy to hop the train into NYC, which was a little more than an hour ride. They had a nice continental breakfast each morning. The hotel staff was very friendly and made us feel welcomed. I would definitely stay again”

“We recently stayed at the Madison Hotel for a wedding that was being held on the property. Our rooms were clean and beds were comfortable and we ordered room service from GK's Red Dog tavern. The food was excellent and the pricing is reasonable. If you'd like to step up your meal, definitely visit Rod's steak house. their crab bisque is the best!
The hotel is located right next to the Convent Station, which provides easy access to Penn Station in NYC. It is also conveniently located near Drew University, Fairliegh Dickenson, and St. Elizabeth's college. If you are thinking of having a wedding in he area, the atrium at the Madison Hotel provides a beautiful venue. The hotel also offers a free breakfast in the lobby, which was a welcome addition to our stay.”

“This is an affordable elegant hotel is just a 45 minute train ride from New York City and just a short distance from I-87.. The lobby is lovely with 24hour hot beverages and yummy muffins in the afternoon. Turn down service with chocolates at night and a delicious continental breakfast by the cozy elegant fireplace (with a glowing fire) all added to our enjoyment at this hotel The pool was comfortably heated and the gym was well appointed. We'll definitely stay here each year as we travel from Florida to Rhode Island.”

“I stayed here for 5 nights at the beginning of May, and it was wonderful! The historical hotel is elegant, the rooms have obviously been well-maintained over the years, the entire hotel and grounds were kept extremely clean, the hotel staff was very friendly and there were many small amenities that really added to the experience. Things like a Keurig in the room, nice pool/hot tub (it was a very relaxing area and not your typical concrete hole-in-the-ground hotel pool), a GREAT fitness center with machines (carbio and weight), dumbbells, and medicine balls, and a delicious steakhouse was attached (FYI the steak is some of the best I've had). Also, it is literally across the street from Convent Station (NJ Transit), and it's an easy 1 hr ride into NYC and no transfers required. I was there for business the first couple days and needed a rental car, but after that I took the car back to the airport and spent my last 3 days there without a car and relied on the train. That's how simple it was to get to the station. And if you don't want to go to the city, you're only a couple miles in either direction from Madison or Morristown, and both of those areas have plenty going on.
Let's see - food from room service was great and got to my room quickly. Also, the continental breakfast was surprisingly good bc there were several options. I'm gluten and dairy free so I stuck to the fresh fruit (blueberries, apples, bananas, oranges, and then a bowl of mixed fruit), but if you don't have dietary restrictions there were also pastries, huge bagels that looked delicious, oatmeal, yogurt, cereal, and plenty of juice, tea and coffee. I hate it when hotels don't keep their breakfast bars well stocked but these guys did.
I've now stayed at 4 different hotels in the area since I travel here for business so much. I will be booking this one from now on and recommending it to anyone traveling to the area.”

“When I visited a family member who was staying at the hotel last year I walked into the lobby and was very impressed by the lobby which was equally impressive as the building and grounds. I would have thought the rates were out of my price range. I researched the rates on line and saw how reasonable the rates were and decided to cone back, stay overnight and enjoy the Sunday brunch when my cousin returned. The rooms were equally first rate with a very comfortable king bed. Great service. Dollar for dollar it may be the best hotel or inn I have stayed at. Check out the main strip in Morristown nearby and only an hour from NYC by train one block away.”

“I recently stayed at The Madison Hotel for one night after attending an event there. The hotel was lovely, the food delicious (even for vegetarians), the staff pleasant and professional. The continental breakfast exceeded my expectations. No frozen bagels here! Many beautiful places to relax, like the lounge and the outdoor terrace. Key words for this hotel: quality and service. That says it all.”

“I stayed for a few nights, for business, and I cannot speak highly enough of The Madison Hotel. Arriving late on a Saturday evening tired out after a long journey, friendliness combined with empathy from the start. Every single member of staff throughout my visit provided friendly professional service of impeccable standard. It was as if there was nothing they would enjoy more than helping me.
The room was spacious, well equipped and clean, with fast and easy-to-access wifi. Food was good, both in the bar and for more formal dining. I particularly appreciated the continental breakfast included in the room rate, taken in the relaxing atmosphere of the lounge: a great start to a working day.”

“We held our daughters wedding reception there on 4/13/2013. We as well as many family members and visitors stayed there for 2 nights. The staff was great. Especially the young man at the restaurant who we asked where we could buy some milk for our granddaughter and brought us a filled cup with a straw and would not accept a tip. The rooms are very clean (they smell very nice) and the beds were very comfortable. The citrus toiletries were designer and smelled great. The indoor pool and hot tub are icing on the cake.
The banquet hall and hotel staff were very professional, courteous and lavished us with attention.
The conservatory (an enormous, beautiful Victorian glass greenhouse) where we held the wedding reception is in my opinion and all the guest that attended the wedding the most beautiful place to hold such an event. I enjoyed this stay very much. Great Job Madison Hotel.”

“I attended my high school reunion this weekend and was pleasantly surprised by this charming hotel. The service was superb and consistent. The lobby was quaint and inviting. Lemon Blueberry muffins with coffee, tea or hot chocolate were available as well as comfy seats to relax. Although the rooms and bathrooms could use a face lift they were clean and well appointed. A nice touch was the turn down service with chocolates which was a pleasant surprise. Make sure your stay includes a Sunday because the brunch at Rod's is wonderful and worth much more than the price. I am really waiting for the opportunity to return to the Madison and bring my family.”
